NEW ALBANY, Miss., - Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County was recently named a Top Performer as part the Joint Commission’s Top Performer on Key Quality Measures®recognition program.

The hospital was named a Top Performer in five categories: heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care, stroke, and perinatal care.

Hospitals were selected as Top Performers if they had achieved outstanding accountability measure performance. According to the Joint Commission, an accountability measure is designed to identify processes that are most likely to improve patient care.

The Joint Commission honor is the latest in the hospital’s recent roster of accolades—furthering its reputation as the area’s premier health care provider, according to Baptist Union County CEO and administrator Walter Grace. Most recently, the hospital earned a safety score of "A" from the Leapfrog group.

In addition, Baptist Union County was selected as one of three hospitals in the nation to receive the 2015 QUEST® Award for High-Value HealthCare for providing outstanding patient care.

Baptist Union County offers a variety of health care services, including adult and pediatric inpatient services, labor and delivery, outpatient and laser surgery and a 24-hour, newly renovated emergency room. The hospital also offers telemedicine and imaging and laboratory services, including an American College of Radiology-accredited MRI machine.
