Radiology Residency Program Overview

The radiology residency program represents a longstanding relationship between Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis and Mid-South Imaging & Therapeutics (MSIT), P.A.

Each year, the hospitals affiliated with Baptist Memorial Health Care perform more than 500,000 radiology exams. Also, by linking themselves to one of the largest health care systems and tertiary referral centers in the Mid-South, residents gain early access to advanced imaging modalities and are exposed to diverse pathology.

To help ensure that our residents receive the best possible preparation for the new American Board of Radiology board exam format, we have modified our curriculum to provide earlier exposure in mammography, interventional radiology, nuclear medicine, and other areas. We value input from residents as many of our teaching faculty are former residents, and others come from respected programs. Our residents earn respected fellowships in various subspecialties, and our graduates are well-rounded, with a strong work ethic and the ability to handle the demands of both private practice and academic radiology.

The Baptist Memorial Health Care Radiology Residency Program participates in the National Residency Match Program (NRMP) for senior medical students and only accepts applications through the Electronic Resident Application Service (ERAS). Program Strengths

• Daily noon conference with a mix of didactic lectures and interactive case review
• Weekly Grainger and Allison Presentations led by 1st-year residents
• Monthly Journal Club, M&M, Tumor Boards (Head and Neck, Thoracic, Lymphoma, GI/GU)

Resident Expectations

• 1st Year: Complete month-long core rotations in Chest, GI/GU (x2), Body CT (x2), Neuroradiology (x2), Interventional Radiology (x2), Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, and Inpatient Fluoroscopy
• 2nd Year: Further exposure to Musculoskeletal, Pediatric Radiology (2 months in the 2nd year at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital)
• 3rd Year: Pediatric Radiology (1 month in the 3rd year at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital), Musculoskeletal, American Institute for Radiologic Pathology (AIRP) (3rd or 4th year)
• 4th Year: Electives, AIRP (3rd or 4th year), advanced Chest/Cardiovascular radiology with exposure to Cardiac MRI
