Our Foundation and Tradition is the Christian Healing Ministry

Mississippi Baptist Medical Center is a licensed 638-bed medical center located in metropolitan Jackson, Miss. We take pride in being more than just a medical center. Founded in 1911, Baptist has grown from an eight-room wooden-framed home to the largest private medical center in the state. On May 1, 2017, Mississippi Baptist Health Systems signed a shared mission agreement with Baptist Memorial Health Care, which is headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee. Baptist Memorial is the largest not-for-profit health care provider in the Mid-South with hospitals in Arkansas, Tennessee and Mississippi. As a result of the shared mission agreement, Baptist Memorial became Mississippi’s fourth largest employer and the largest health care system in the state. Baptist Memorial hospitals offer patients in rural and urban areas access to the region’s largest network of doctors and specialists, as well as access to Epic―one of the country’s most sophisticated electronic health record systems.

Baptist is an organization where nurses know that their knowledge and clinical expertise are supported and valued. Nurses serve on numerous nursing councils and organizational committees where their voices are heard. Baptist sets a standard in the community for the pursuit of the highest quality, safe patient care. Changes in nursing practice is guided by research for better outcomes which results in higher patient and employee satisfaction and a shorter patient stay. Educational opportunities are available to all employees and nursing leaders work with staff on flexible schedules to help them achieve their educational goals.

Throughout the decades, Baptist has provided quality, compassionate Christian-based patient care for the people of Mississippi. We are honored that you may choose Mississippi Baptist Medical Center as your employer.
