Residency Program Application FAQs

How many positions do you have available?

We have four (4) PGY-1 and four (4) PGY-2 positions.

When does the program begin?

The Baptist OB-GYN Residency Program begins July 2021.

How do I apply for a PGY-1 position?

You can apply for PGY-1 positions through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). We will not accept any applications submitted by e-mail.

How do I apply for a PGY-2 position?

Please e-mail your application with the following documents to Roumiana Katzarkov at roumiana.katzarkov@bmhcc.org.

• A cover letter describing your interest in transferring to our program and the reason for leaving your current program
• A copy of your complete ERAS application from your PGY-1 application, including a personal statement, Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE), final medical school transcript, letters of recommendation, and a photo
• United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE)/Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination (COMLEX) score reports for parts 1, 2 and 3 (with no failed attempts)
• Letter from your current program director, which should include verification of your current level of training, verification of your good standing in the program, your expected date of completion of PGY-1 year (if applicable), and the program’s willingness to release you from your current training contract
• Up-to-date Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) case logs
• List of completed rotations, including dates
• Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology (CREOG) score report

Where can I get my previous ERAS application?

Please check with your current program coordinator. He or she usually keeps a copy.

Will you sponsor a J-1 visa?

Yes

What can I expect from Baptist’s OB-GYN residency program?

Yes, the program's mission is to train empathetic physicians who apply evidence-based principles and work collaboratively and compassionately to address the unique needs of each patient to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Baptist's OB-GYN Residency Program provides both practical and academic training in a specialty hospital setting. Staffed by faculty who are experts in their fields, residents will have access to a wealth of clinical, research and one-on-one mentoring opportunities.

Because Baptist Memorial Hospital for Women is in a large urban area and serves as a regional referral center for high-risk deliveries, residents will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience with routine and complex pregnancies. They will also participate in advanced and minimally invasive procedures and be trained to use traditional and leading-edge techniques and equipment, including robotic surgical systems.

Through mentoring and clinical and investigative research opportunities, residents will develop advanced skills and be prepared for any future endeavors, including general practice, an academic career or a specialty fellowship.
