2024 Awards

Baptist Memorial Health Care

  • The Leapfrog Group honored five Baptist Memorial Hospitals with an “A” Hospital Safety Grade for Spring 2024, recognizing their achievements in protecting patients from harm and error in the hospital. Baptist Golden Triangle earned its 25th consecutive “A” Hospital Safety Grade, and Baptist Union County received its 12th consecutive “A” grade. Leapfrog also awarded “A” grades to Baptist Carroll County, Baptist Union City and NEA Baptist Hospital, which received its fifth consecutive “A” grade. Baptist Golden Triangle is the only hospital in Mississippi and one of only 15 in the country to earn an “A” grade in every Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade cycle.
  • U.S. News and World Report’s 2024–2025 Best Hospitals rankings and ratings honored seven Baptist Memorial hospitals.
    • Mississippi Baptist Medical Center ranked first in Mississippi and in Jackson for the sixth year in a row and earned “high performing” ratings in 13 medical specialties.
    • Baptist Memphis ranked first in the Memphis metro area, second in Tennessee and earned “high performing” ratings in 14 medical specialties.
    • Baptist DeSoto and NEA Baptist each earned “high performing” ratings in six medical specialties.
    • Baptist North Mississippi earned “high performing” ratings in four medical specialties.
    • Baptist Golden Triangle and Baptist Anderson each earned a “high performing” rating in one medical specialty.

Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi

  • Vizient ranked Baptist North Mississippi first among 168 large, specialized complex care medical centers for quality and accountability in the U.S. The rankings, based on the Vizient Quality and Accountability scorecard, measure performance on the quality of patient care in domains including mortality, efficiency, safety, patient centeredness and equity.

2023 Awards

Baptist Memorial Health Care

  • U.S. News and World Report’s 2023–2024 Best Hospitals rankings and ratings honored six Baptist Memorial Hospitals.
    • Mississippi Baptist Medical Center ranked first in Mississippi and in Jackson for the fifth year in a row.
    • Baptist Memphis ranked 4th in Tennessee and 2nd in the Memphis metro area
    • NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital ranked 2nd in Arkansas
    • Baptist DeSoto ranked 2nd in Mississippi and 3rd in the Memphis metro area
    • Baptist North Mississippi earned two High Performing ratings in procedures and conditions
    • Baptist Golden Triangle earned a High Performing rating in one condition
  • The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services awarded Baptist Leake and Baptist Union County five stars for quality, the agency’s highest distinction. The hospitals are two of only four in Mississippi and 483 in the nation that received five stars. The ratings are based on 46 quality measurements from five categories: mortality, safety, readmissions after treatment of common conditions, patient experience, and timely and effective care.
  • (Fall 2023 Survey) The Leapfrog Group honored five Baptist Memorial Hospitals with an “A” Hospital Safety Grade to recognize their achievements in protecting patients from harm and error: Baptist Carroll County, Baptist Golden Triangle, Baptist Union City, Baptist Union County and NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital. Baptist Golden Triangle is one of only 18 hospitals in the country to earn an “A” Hospital Safety Grade on every survey ever conducted by The Leapfrog Group.
  • (Spring 2023 Survey) The Leapfrog Group honored Baptist Carroll County, Baptist Golden Triangle, Baptist Union County and NEA Baptist with “A” Hospital Safety Grades to recognize their achievements in protecting patients from harm and error in the hospital. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only ratings program for hospitals that’s based exclusively on hospital prevention of medical errors and harms to patients. Baptist Golden Triangle continued its streak of earning an “A” in every Leapfrog survey ever conducted.

Baptist Memorial Hospital-Attala

  • The National Rural Health Association recently named Baptist Attala among the top 20 critical access hospitals for Best Practice in Quality. To receive the quality designation, hospitals must achieve success on hospital performance across rural-relevant process of care measures.

Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis

  • BlueCross BlueShield named Baptist Memphis’ bone marrow/stem cell transplant center a Blue Distinction Center. This allows increased reimbursement and network access for the transplant program.

Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County

  • In its list of the best hospitals in each state, Newsweek named Baptist Union County Mississippi’s best hospital, joining esteemed health care institutions such as Mayo Clinic and Cleveland Clinic. Newsweek calculated scores for each hospital by weighing recommendations from peers, patient experience based on publicly available data, Medicare and Joint Commission hospital quality metrics and patient-reported outcome measures.

Mississippi Baptist Medical Center

  • The Leapfrog Group and Money.com recently named Mississippi Baptist Medical Center one of the top 101 hospitals in the nation for bariatric surgery. MBMC is the only Mississippi facility to receive this designation. Leapfrog and Money.com reviewed more than 2,200 hospitals for the honor. To make the list, hospitals had to meet Leapfrog’s bariatric surgery and safe surgery checklist standards. Hospitals also had to have a Leapfrog safety grade of B or higher and a standardized infection ratio of less than 1 for central line-associated bloodstream infections and catheter-associated urinary tract infections to be considered for the recognition.

Baptist Health Sciences University

  • Baptist Health Sciences University earned high rankings in two higher education publications. It ranked number 3 in the nation on University Magazine’s “Best Colleges for the Money” list. A few months later, Intelligent.com ranked the University 8th in Best Online Accelerated RN-to-BSN Degree Programs, 16th in Best Online Bachelor’s in Healthcare Administration Degree Programs, and 26th in Best Online Colleges in Tennessee.
