Primary Site

Baptist Memorial Hospital for Women

Length of rotation (in months) - Year 1: 6.5, Year 2: 7.5, Year 3: 6.5, Year 4: 7

Baptist Memorial Hospital for Women is the first freestanding women’s hospital in the region and the leading hospital for births and gynecologic procedures in Shelby County. With more than 5,000 deliveries a year, Baptist Women’s Hospital offers residents varied experiences. Baptist Women’s Hospital is a national leader in preventing postpartum hemorrhage and treating preeclampsia.

With an experienced medical staff and a long history of training both medical students and residents, Baptist Women’s Hospital is an excellent choice for high-quality and compassionate OB-GYNs. Baptist Women’s Hospital consistently performs favorably to benchmarks provided by the National Perinatal Information Center (NPIC) and the Council of Women’s and Infants’ Specialty Hospitals (CWISH). The hospital and medical staff take quality performance very seriously. Our primary cesarean section rate is below the national average, and our birth trauma rates consistently fall below national benchmarks.

Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis

Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis, the flagship hospital of Baptist Memorial Health Care’s 22-hospital system, will provide the required emergency medicine, ICU and gynecologic-oncology surgery experiences.

Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto

Length of rotation (in months) - Year 1: 0, Year 2: 0.5, Year 3: 0.5, Year 4: 0.5

Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto provides health care for North Mississippi.

Baptist DeSoto is located on the border of Tennessee and Mississippi, and draws patients from nearby suburban Memphis to the very rural Mississippi Delta.

Residents will gain valuable experience with a more rural population during the one-month general obstetric-gynecologic rotation (equally split between Memphis Obstetrics Gynecological Association medical clinic and Baptist DeSoto) in each of residency years 2, 3 and 4.

Christ Community Health Services

Length of rotation (in months) - Year 1: 2, Year 2: 0.5, Year 3: 0.5, Year 4: 0.5

A federally qualified health center (FQHC) serving the underserved population of Shelby County, Christ Community Health Services (CCHS) provides comprehensive care for vulnerable women in the Mid-South. During this rotation, residents will follow patients’ general obstetric-gynecological care from CCHS to Baptist Women’s Hospital.

CCHS will be one of two sites for our residency continuity clinics and will provide a primary care experience for residents during their first academic year.

Memphis Obstetrics and Gynecological Association (MOGA)

Length of rotation (in months) - Year 1: 1.5, Year 2: 1.5, Year 3: 1.5, Year 4: 2

Memphis Obstetrics and Gynecological Association (MOGA) is a large general OB-GYN, multisite practice that includes women's health services.

MOGA serves as one of Baptist’s two continuity clinic sites. While working in these offices, residents will experience labor and delivery, gynecologic surgeries and patient consults at three Baptist Memorial hospitals.

Fertility Associates of Memphis

Located on the Baptist Memphis campus, Fertility Associates of Memphis is a leading center for comprehensive reproductive endocrinology and infertility care.
